RESEARCH EXPERIENCE 

1999 - 2003: Ph.D. Research with Dr. Charles R. Sterling. University of Arizona. Molecular analysis of Cryptosporidium parvum related to issues of molecular detection and host specificity/speciation issues.

1995 - 1999: Master's Research with Dr. Donald A. Klein. Colorado State University. Utilizing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Single Stranded Conformation Polymorphism (SSCP) for identifying variability in the internal transcribed region (ITS-1) - rDNA of Cyclospora cayetanensis; phylum: Apicomplexa.

1998: Visiting Researcher. Lima, Peru, John Hopkins University, and University of Arizona. A six-month sabbatical confirming the detection of Cyclospora cayetanensis in wastewater by classical and molecular techniques while in Lima, Peru.

1995 - 1997: Research Associate. Colorado State University. Biological Particle Surrogates for Filtration Performance Evaluation; Project 181; American Water Association Research Foundation. Research associate overseeing growth, seeding, and enumeration of bacteria, bacteria-phages, and protozoans, including Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum

1992 - 1993: Laboratory Assistant, Dr. Whalen. Colorado State University. Duties included care and passage of fibroblast cells, performing reverse transcriptase assays, and FeLV antigen ELISA.

1997 - 1999: Laboratory Director. CH Diagnostic & Consulting Services, Inc. Loveland, CO 80537. Provided direction of day-to-day operation of laboratory for all samples and technicians/analysts. Involved in implementing and training of new and standard operating procedure protocols.
