January, 2006The LT2 rule was signed on December 15th, 2005 and is now published in the Federal Register. Outlined in the LT2 rule, Cryptosporidium spp., E. coli, and turbidity monitoring will be required for raw source waters. Monitoring compliance Start Dates are dependent on the populace a given WTP serves. Cryptosporidium spp. levels (oocysts/liter) found in raw waters will potentially establish additional log removal and/or inactivation requirements for water utility treatment processes. Historical Cryptosporidium data submitted for will be considered used if data meets Grandfathering requirements.
